Outdoor Green Wall Illuminates Parking Garage – Mahalo!

Often referred to as the “9th Hawaiian Island,” the California Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has been catering to Hawaiian tourists since Sam Boyd opened the hotel 40 years ago, which happened to also coincide with the opening of a small company called Plantworks that same year.

As part of an extensive renovation of the Valet Entrance to the enclosed parking garage, International Plantworks manufactured an impressive and stately permanent artificial Green Wall Sculpture that now serves as the focal point of the redesign.

Creatively Used

Utilizing an assortment of Ultraviolet Inhibited (UVI) foliage and textures, Plantworks created a gentle cresting ocean wave within the Green Wall and then placed the Hawaiian word ‘Mahalo’ at the apex of the wave to properly greet travelers from the “Remaining 8 Islands.” Plantworks creatively used commercial-grade, exterior (UVI), Boxwood, Bougainvillea, Ivy and Vines mounted to a powder-coated steel grid to accomplish Boyd Gaming’s specific design goals.
