Long one of Nevada’s leading environmental pioneers, the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino in Reno, embarked on a nearly half billion dollar renovation that included the removal and replacement of water consuming live trees and plants with commercial-grade, strikingly beautiful, artificial horticultural products.
With a primary focus of enhancing the high quality aesthetics of the resort’s Tuscan themed façade, Plantworks was called upon to custom manufacture dozens of artificial Italian Cypress trees that towered 20 to 30 feet in height, create hundreds of hanging and ground-based flower baskets and planters as well as numerous topiaries for the two large pool and spa areas. Peppermill estimates that the conversion from live plant materials to artificial products conserves approximately 5.2 million gallons of water per season! They also proudly tout the reduction of the hotel’s environmental footprint by eliminating chemical and pesticide usage for the faux plants.
